The Blue Boar is launching its very own brand new quiz night on 18th July, so it's time to garner all available knowledge and put it to good use!
All you will need is a team of six brainy people to try your chances at winning prizes, including our 'million dollar question' which is worth a £100 bar tab. If nobody answers the question correctly, the money is rolled over to the next month. If it rolls over twice the cash will be donated to the Blue Cross.
Googling of answers will be taken as a serious offence!
Entry is £4 per person, £1 of which is donated to the Blue Cross. Arrival 7.15pm for 7.30pm start.

Finally, another bank holiday weekend is upon us at the end of March, and Easter is a perfect time to make the most of some time off and to spend more time with friends and family.

On Friday 6 July 2012 the Blue Boar played host to the IoD business lunch for members with Rt Hon David Cameron MP. A total of 24 IoD members attended what was a popular and informative lunch, held in the Bosworth Suite.
David Cameron engaged his audience by talking about the important role business has to play in improving the economy and the change that needs to happen to build a balanced economy, in which all the sectors – business, retail, and manufacturing – play a part. He also talked about the need for a diversified economy, across all sectors and regions, not one that is overly reliant on financial services and the City of London.
Commenting on the event afterwards, David Cameron said, "I was delighted to join a small group of local business people recently at an Institute of Directors members’ lunch. We discussed a range of very important issues which affect businesses both locally and nationally and it was a very good opportunity for me to be able to reassure them that this Government is absolutely focused on doing everything possible to support enterprise and make Britain the best place in the world in which to start or grow a business."
It's not the first time David Cameron has visited the Blue Boar, but the networking lunch was an opportunity for the Prime Minister to sample the Blue Boar's great food!

To kickstart this exciting monthly event, Thursday 20th September will see Fred's House, Charlie Goodall and other guest acts in a display of raw musical talent.

Our coffee festival is coming to Witney! This is your opportunity to try a range of different speciality coffees with our tasting sessions, coffee masterclasses, coffee pudding specials and sweet treats, as well as learning some interesting coffee facts - always good to acquire random bits of knowledge.
With three different speciality espresso roasts and two filter roasts for you to try, with different beans in each, you can brush up on your discerning coffee taste. All our coffees will also be available to take away if you have to rush off!
We'll be offering free tastings of our filter coffee at 8.30am, 10.30am and 11.30am with tasting cards to help you identify different flavours as well as an inspiring talk by our connoisseur and Coffee Development Manager, Tom.

This week has seen the start of the Walk4Matt fundraising walk for The Matt Hampson Foundation, in which a group of dedicated challengers take on an epic 110 mile walk along the canal towpath from Rugby to Twickenham.
The Blue Boar is one of the event sponsors, with our logo emblazoned on the side of one of the 12 support narrow boats. As well as storing all the essentials, these also provide accommodation and much-needed rest for the weary walkers.
At each evening's stop along the route there has also been a wealth of entertainment, such as a celebrity cricket match featuring Harry Ellis, Freddie Tuilagi, Paul Nixon, and Phil de Freitas, held at Tring Cricket Club in Hertfordshire. Our sister site The Akeman provided a pretty awesome BBQ for the event too!
The walk has been supported by all 12 Aviva Premiership Rugby Union Clubs, as well as huge involvement from fantastic charity Special Effect, with who Matt Hampson is a patron.
We wish the team the best of luck in completing this admirable feat!
The Matt Hampson Foundation was established in 2011 and provides support, advice, relief or treatment to people suffering from serious injury or disability through sport. It was set up by Matt Hampson, who was on the U21 England Rugby team before a serious injury paralysed him from the neck down. More information is available at www.matthampsonfoundation.org

If you fancy a bit of speed dating, then we're hosting a great event on Friday 18th May in the Bosworth Suite. A speed dating night for 45's plus, and what's more, it's all in the name of charity as all proceeds are donated to Cancer Research.
With two speed dating sessions starting at 7pm and 8.30pm, tickets are £10 including a free raffle ticket. There will be a chance to win a meal for two at the Blue Boar, so the incentive is there to come along and try your luck in more ways than one!
