If you fancy a bit of speed dating, then we're hosting a great event on Friday 18th May in the Bosworth Suite. A speed dating night for 45's plus, and what's more, it's all in the name of charity as all proceeds are donated to Cancer Research. With two speed dating sessions starting at 7pm and 8.30pm, tickets are £10 including a free raffle ticket. There will be a chance to win a meal for two at the Blue Boar, so the incentive is there to come along and try your luck in more ways than one! Witney played backdrop to a gruelling event on Thursday 29th March, as brave locals plucked up the courage to walk on fire and glass for charity Special Effect, raising a phenomenal £9.5k in the process. Witney-based businesses, residents, and just the downright mad took on the daunting challenge of walking 20 feet over shards of razor-sharp glass made up of 2,000 broken wine bottles and also over white-hot wood embers burning at 1236 degrees Farenheit, all in the name of raising money for superb charity Special Effect.

An evening of glamour in the Bosworth Suite awaits.... Our Ratpack Evening is one glamorous black-tie affair, with exquisite food and drink, live music and a casino. With Prosecco on arrival, the evening also comprises a three course dinner, specially created by our Head Chef, followed by live music from Jim McAllister, and casino games. Black tie dress code applies, and the evening commences at 7.30pm.

David Cameron joined Oxfordshire walkers and local dignitaries at a very special tea party on Friday 16th March, to celebrate the launch of a 110-mile walk that will benefit SpecialEffect, an award-winning local charity that helps people with disabilities to use leading-edge technology for therapy, rehabilitation and fun.

Wow, what a Christmas, we've barely had time to breathe it's been so busy, but we did gasp at Witney's first ever flash mob which took place in the Blue Boar on 23rd December. Imagine our surprise when members of the Voicebox Choir seemingly randomly struck up a Christmas-themed chord in the bar, and gradually built to a fantastic crescendo! Pretty impressive. A host of merry drinkers looked on and some even joined in on the seasonal singing session, and for Witney's first every flash mob, it goes down in history as very cool stuff indeed.

Finally, the Blue Boar opened its doors on 9th December, welcoming the people of Witney and beyond to see the shiny new restaurant bar and rooms in all its glory. It was also an opportunity for guests to meet our dedicated team of staff, and of course, Bosworth, our resident boar....
